It was a busy week as Newell School District caught up from the cold spell.  Newell FFA has wonderful plans set up that had to be postponed.  Fortunately, the FFA petting zoo went as planned with the school makeup day.

Career and Technical education classes are vital to our students' education. In Newell, students can build, create, and discover vast career opportunities. The Newell School District provides Agriculture Education and Industrial arts to all students in grades 8-12.

Perkins reserve grants have provided many resources to enhance the Industrial Arts program.  Students utilize various woodworking equipment, as well as plasma cutters and technology.  Skillful training is provided by Mr. Fiedler to prepare the students for the workforce in high-demand areas.

Mrs. Geppert plays a key role as the Agricultural Education teacher.  Students develop knowledge and skills in the areas of Food Science, Natural Resources, Wildlife and Fisheries, Agricultural Leadership, and Career Exploration.  Participation in FFA allows students to challenge their skills and compete with other FFA students.

As a former Agriculture Education teacher, I take great pride in the importance of Career and Technical opportunities for the Newell students.  Not only have I benefited in the learning opportunities available, but many other former Newell students have as well.
