Fourth and fifth-grade students celebrated National Poetry Month in April in the Library with lessons on Black Out Poetry. Blackout poetry is the process of taking a piece of written text from a book, newspaper, or magazine and removing or marking out words in order to come up with your own poetry creation. The students practiced this technique and created their own pieces of work.
Books were received from the recent Book Blast Treasure Map book drive. We were able to provide 479 free books for summer reading to students from pre-school through 8th grade. Every student received at least one book. Thank you to the parents who helped their children with the treasure maps. Also, thank you to Dvorak Convenience Stores (BJ's Conoco) for your community donation. We look forward to more books for next year!
