Newell School District will surplus school supplies such as old books and textbooks and a carpet extractor on Tuesday, April 18th. Surplussed items can be located in the multipurpose room from 5:30-7:30 pm and are free to the public.

Newell Board of Education election results from yesterday. Dean Johnson 83 votes, Todd Youngberg 75 votes, and Dustin Braun 64 votes. The top two vote recipients will be sworn in during the July school board meeting.

The Kindergarten class has been having quite a fun and engaging unit over life cycles. They got to hatch chicks in their classroom! They saw the eggs being put in the incubator, candled the eggs, and watched the chicks hatch. Additionally, they made chick life cycle hats and completed a chick log. So far they have 8 chicks with one hatching still. They loved this project and have been so excited throughout the entire process. Thank you so much to Courtney Barrera and Kenzie Grant for donating eggs and an incubator.

Dakota Dreams Career Exploration Summer Camps
CALLING SOUTH DAKOTA MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Students who will enter the 7th and 8th grade in fall 2023, will have an opportunity to participate in free five-day career exploration camps this summer. Hosted on South Dakota college campuses, these camps will expose students to various career paths through fun, engaging and hands-on learning. Throughout the week, campers will spend time on university and technical college campuses and visit area businesses to see careers in action. By the end of camp, students will have a better understanding of themselves, their career interests and how their education prepares them for professions.
