Come out and support the junior class!
We cheer on our students entering the welding competition, an annual event hosted by Western Dakota Tech . Kids from area schools compete for prizes with the winner receiving the Build Dakota scholarship to attend WDT for welding. The Build Dakota Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship offered to SD students who qualify and want to pursue a high-need labor area in SD!
The Newell Irrigator Wrestling Team went to Lemmon Tuesday. There were 13 teams. Dyson added another first place win this year. Bodie also manhandled his way into 1st place. Will wrestled his way into 3rd. They all showed some great skills. Their next meet is in Belle this Friday and Saturday. Their only home meet is February 4th.

The Newell Irrigator Wrestlers competed in Chadron today. They saw lots of new adversaries to go against. There were 26 tough teams at the meet. Dyson pinned his way into the
1st place. What a great day for him. Bodie came up 1 match short of reaching the top placing rounds. Will wrestled JV and earned 4th place. On Tuesday the team wrestles at 4:30 in Lemmon. Their home meet is coming soon, February 4th. It is their only home meet. They would love to have as many fans in the stands as possible to cheer them on. Photos and story by Mrs. Erk.

We are pleased to welcome Dennis Mez to the Newell School District as our new Middle School/High School Science Teacher. Mr. Mez holds a degree in Biology from the University of South Dakota and brings a unique perspective to the classroom, transitioning from a distinguished 23-year career in law enforcement.
